PENALTIES

Arizona has the toughest DUI laws in the country. Arizona’s DUI laws are constantly being updated and revised, with some of the most recent changes occurring on December 31, 2011. As a result, if you are accused of DUI you are facing serious jail time, fines and suspension of your driving privileges. The difference of a few points on your BAC can mean the difference between spending 30 or 1 day in jail. So having an attorney that can cast doubt on the State’s case and the evidence against you can make all the difference.

CIVIL/DRIVERS LICENSE PENALTIES

You should also be aware that a DUI counts as 8 points against your drivers’ license. Often times your DUI is bundled with other civil traffic violations. The effect is that you may lose your license for much longer than the standard 90 day suspension that comes with a DUI. In fact, if you get too many points your license could be revoked. Our attorneys can often negotiate away some of your civil violations or get you into traffic school so that you do not lose your license for an extended period of time.

  • If you acquire 8-12 points in a year your driving privileges may be suspended for 3 months.
  • If you acquire 13-17 points in a year your driving privileges will be suspended for 3 months
  • If you acquire 18-23 points in a year your driving privileges will be suspended for 6 months
